Congress dissolves Himachal Pradesh state, district and block committees to pave the way for reorganisation

The entire state unit of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, district presidents and block Congress committees have been dissolved with immediate effect. The Congress party issued a notification on Wednesday about this major decision.

Himachal Congress president Pratibha Singh had earlier written to the party high command seeking approval to dissolve the old executive and begin the process of forming a new team. Her letter sought the authority to replace inactive office bearers within the organisation and revive the party at various levels.

As a result, a new executive is expected to be formed at the state, district and block levels. However, no official timeline has been given for these new appointments. Party insiders suggest that decisions are likely to be taken in the coming days after consultations with the high command. It appears that the party leadership does not want to rush the process but is instead focusing on carefully selecting active and committed members for the reconstituted structure.

The move to dissolve the existing committees has been taken in response to concerns over inactive office bearers at the district and block levels. The state Congress had already expressed the need for an overhaul of its leadership, aimed at improving organisational efficiency and ensuring that officials in key roles remain actively engaged.
