“Ratan Tata was truly a legend”: Senior BJP leader LK Advani
LK Advani said Ratan Tata has left an indelible mark on Indian industry.
New Delhi: Senior BJP leader LK Advani on Thursday said that among Indian industry leaders, he admired Ratan Tata the most because of his immense dedication, vision and sincerity with which he led the group to glory for several decades.

Mr Tata, the former chairman of Tata Group, who transformed a stagnant conglomerate into one of India’s largest and most influential groups, breathed his last in Mumbai on Wednesday night. He was 86.

In his condolence message, the former Deputy Prime Minister said Mr Tata has left an indelible mark on Indian industry. He was one of the giants of industry, Mr Advani said.

“He truly proved to be a worthy successor to the very inspiring late Mr J R D Tata, with whom I had the opportunity to interact on several occasions,” Mr Advani said.

The veteran BJP leader said his last conversation with Mr Tata was in February this year, when he received a “warm letter” from him after he was conferred the Bharat Ratna.

He said his warmth, generosity and kindness have always been deeply endearing. “The nation will remain indebted to Mr Ratan Tata – he was a truly great man. May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers,” the 96-year-old leader said.
