Himachal gets award for achieving highest achievement in overall hydropower capacity
Himachal Pradesh was awarded the state with highest achievement in overall hydropower capacity at the Global Renewable Energy Investors Conference and Expo for doing best work in hydropower capacity.
Shimla, September 16: Himachal Pradesh was awarded the state with highest achievement in overall hydropower capacity at the Global Renewable Energy Investors Conference and Expo for doing best work in hydropower capacity. Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi today presented the certificate to Himachal Pradesh at the Global Renewable Energy Investors Conference and Expo held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur and MLA Neeraj Nayar received this award on behalf of the state government.
Congratulating on this achievement, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the present government is taking effective steps to make Himachal Pradesh a green energy state by 31 March 2026 and for this the government has also taken many initiatives so far. He said that the government is focusing special attention on harnessing hydropower and renewable energy. He said that the operation of 32 MW solar plant located at Pekhubela has been started within a record six months. At the same time, two solar energy projects, 10 MW Kutlehad and 5 MW Bhanjal project will also be dedicated to the public soon.
He said that with the start of these projects, while carbon emissions will decrease, dependence on fossil fuels will also decrease. The Chief Minister said that the state government is encouraging the use of electric vehicles. Diesel vehicles will be phased out by promoting the use of electric vehicles in government departments.
He said that the government is promoting green industries for environmental protection in the state. Expressing gratitude to the people of the state for showing faith in the government, he said that due to the strong cooperation of the people, the state government is successfully implementing various policies and programs. He said that as a result of these efforts, Himachal Pradesh will develop as a self-reliant and prosperous state in the coming few years.
