Solan, 06 September: There is news of 3 workers getting badly burnt due to chemical spill in a soap making industry in industrial area Jharmajri. One of these workers has been referred to PGI Chandigarh in critical condition. The industry management neither informed the police department about this incident nor informed any other related department about it.
According to the information, the police came to know about this incident when the burnt worker posted his photo on social media and shared his grief with the media. On receiving the information, INTUC Federation General Secretary Harbans Rana and Vice President Aditya reached the gate of the industry and raised slogans against the industry management. They complained about this to Barotiwala police, after which the Barotiwala police team reached the spot with SHO Neelam Kumar and took stock of the situation, and started investigation.
The injured workers who were affected by the chemical were identified as Sunil Thakur and Rajiv, while the third worker has not been identified yet. Sunil Thakur, the worker who was affected by the chemical, has been referred to PGI Chandigarh due to his critical condition. ASP Ashok Verma said that after receiving the complaint, a team of Barotiwala police has been sent to the spot and the matter is being investigated.
At the same time, the industry management said that the injured worker was first taken to ESI Hospital Katha and in view of his critical condition, he has been referred to PGI Chandigarh. According to the industry management, the injured workers are being treated and all the work is being carried out as per the legal process. Despite that, if such an incident has happened, then the industry management will also investigate it at its own level.
