2947 cases of drug trafficking registered in Himachal in one and a half years, 11 people died due to overdose

In a written reply to a joint question related to drug trafficking by Karsog MLA Deep Raj and Indora MLA Malender Rajan, the Chief Minister said that 2947 cases of chitta and other drug trafficking have been registered in the state in the last one and a half years.

Shimla, 03 September: In a written reply to a joint question related to drug trafficking by Karsog MLA Deep Raj and Indora MLA Malender Rajan, the Chief Minister said that 2947 cases of chitta and other drug trafficking have been registered in the state in the last one and a half years.

He said that 11 people have lost their lives due to drug overdose during this period. The Chief Minister said that the state government is taking strict steps to deal with drug trafficking and the provisions of the NDPS Act are being strictly implemented. Campaigns are being run to destroy the cultivation of cannabis and opium. Drug prevention committees have been formed at every police station level. The Nasha Mukt Himachal Mobile Drug Free App has been launched.

The Chief Minister said that more than 11 crore rupees worth of property earned from illegal drug trade has been seized in one and a half years. He said that a government de-addiction center is operating in the state. There is no such de-addiction centre in the border areas of the state.
