Mandi, September 01: A shocking incident of violence took place at Mandi’s Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital Nerchowk, where a group of assailants attacked trainee doctors on the college campus late last night. One doctor was injured in the attack, and the police have arrested six accused in connection with the case. The attack has raised serious concerns over the security of the campus, leading the police to launch an intensive investigation.

The incident took place when some trainee doctors, who were on night duty, were taking a break and strolling outside the hospital and college campus. The assailants came in a car and managed to enter the campus by posing as patients and dodging the security guards posted at the main gate. After breaking in, they brutally attacked one of the trainee doctors and threatened to kill him. While some doctors managed to escape, they nabbed one of the assailants in the chaos, but three others managed to escape from the spot.

Angered by the attack, trainee doctors retaliated by damaging the vehicles of the attackers. College principal Dr. DK Verma rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident. Surveillance footage of CCTV cameras installed around the female trainee doctors’ hostel has captured the activities of some of the attackers and the college management is actively engaged in identifying them.

The attack has sparked widespread anger among trainee doctors, who are now demanding tight security arrangements in the college campus. Mandi police have registered a case and started investigation and have launched a search for the rest of the attackers. Initial reports suggest that all the suspects are local residents, one of whom is reportedly a ward boy employed in the hospital. Police are closely investigating the motives behind this disturbing attack.

Following the attack, doctors are demanding the college administration to enhance security protocols to prevent any such incident in future. DSP Headquarters Devraj confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway and more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
