Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania called for constructive cooperation before the monsoon session
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has appealed to all the members for constructive cooperation in conducting the forthcoming Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, scheduled to commence on August 27.
Shimla, August 26: Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has appealed to all the members for constructive cooperation in conducting the forthcoming Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, scheduled to commence on August 27. Addressing a press conference after a party meeting held in the Vidhan Sabha today, Pathania emphasized the importance of this session, which will comprise 10 sittings focused on discussing important public interest issues.
Pathania advised the members to effectively utilize the time allotted during the session to raise and debate issues affecting the public. He assured that adequate time would be given for discussion on any matter brought by the members, stressing that it would be their responsibility to make meaningful use of this time.
“The members have the opportunity to bring issues and concerns of state interest from their respective constituencies directly to the House for urgent discussion,” Pathania said. He said the government was fully prepared to respond to these issues, ensuring that the debates were productive and focused on the welfare of the public.
Replying to a query about the number of questions submitted by members, Pathania informed that a total of 936 questions have been received for this session. Of these, 640 questions are starred, of which 516 have been submitted online and 124 offline, while 296 are unstarred, of which 248 have been submitted online and 48 offline. These questions forwarded to the government for further action cover a wide range of subjects including Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi, recent floods, merger of schools, impact of heavy rains and natural calamities and government’s efforts to deal with these challenges.
Apart from these questions, Pathania informed that 7 notices under Rule 62, 1 notice under Rule 63, 10 notices under Rule 101, 20 notices under Rule 130 and 4 notices under Rule 324 have been received from members. These notices have also been forwarded to the government for further action and will be discussed during the session.
Pathania also informed that the Governor has given his assent to five bills passed earlier, which will now be recognised as Acts. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta and Deputy Chief Whip of the Government Kewal Singh Pathania also attended the press conference. Though the Leader of Opposition could not attend the meeting due to ill health, he said over the phone that his party would provide constructive cooperation in conducting the session.
