Mandi, August 21: Sardar Patel University, the second university of the state operating in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, is going to celebrate its first convocation on September 12 next month. Governor of Himachal Pradesh Shiv Pratap Shukla will attend this ceremony as the chief guest. This information was given by SPU Vice Chancellor Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi during a press conference organized on Wednesday.

He told that in the first convocation of Sardar Patel University, degrees will be distributed to a total of 311 students of two batches. Along with this, medals will also be distributed to 36 students. The Vice Chancellor said that this will be the first convocation of SPU and preparations have started in the university to give it a grand look.

At the same time, SPU Vice Chancellor Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi told that recently he has also met CM Sukhu. During this, discussions were held with CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu about land for the new campus of the university and filling up the vacant posts. He said that at present around 125 posts are vacant in SPU, the process of filling which has started.
