Monsoon Session 2024: Himachal Pradesh Assembly tightens security with QR code entry
500 police personnel will be deployed to maintain order in the assembly and entry to the premises will be strictly controlled through QR code-based passes.
Shimla, August 20: As the Himachal Pradesh Assembly gears up for its monsoon session scheduled to run from August 27 to September 9, security measures have been tightened considerably. 500 police personnel will be deployed to maintain order in the assembly and entry to the premises will be strictly controlled through QR code-based passes.
These passes, processed and printed online exclusively under the e-Vidhan system, will have a photograph and a QR code for authentication. The police will set up computerized checking centres at the main gates, where all entry passes will be scanned and verified. A database of every person entering the premises will be maintained and monitored from the police control room.
Entry will be restricted to administrative secretaries during the Question Hour, followed by department heads. 60 home guard personnel will be deployed in addition to the police force to strengthen security. Entry without an approved e-pass will be strictly prohibited.
Press reporters will enter through gate numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6 as usual. Officers and employees of the Assembly Secretariat will have to prominently display their identity cards at all times. Legal action will be taken against any government official, employee or pass holder found transferring his pass to another person. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania stressed the need to maintain high level law and order throughout the session. He gave strict instructions to the security personnel to ensure that the legislative process proceeds smoothly and without any interruption.
