Dehra, August 16: In a ceremony filled with pride and recognition, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conferred Himachal Gaurav Awards on distinguished persons at a state-level Independence Day function held at Shaheed Bhuvnesh Dogra Ground in Dehra of Kangra district. Kehar Singh Thakur, Prof. Keshav Ram Sharma and Poonam Thakur were given this prestigious award for their outstanding contribution and unwavering dedication in their respective fields, bringing honour and pride to Himachal Pradesh.

A large number of dignitaries, government officials and the general public were present at the event, which was a celebration of excellence and service.

Along with the Himachal Gaurav Award, the Civil Service Award was presented to the Department of Digital Technology and Governance. The department was honoured for its pioneering work in digital governance, which has significantly modernized administrative processes and made government services more accessible to the people of Himachal Pradesh.

The Prerna Srot Samman was presented to three remarkable individuals who have inspired many with their extraordinary work. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, Handicrafts Export Promotion Council, Satya Prakash Sharma, Founder, Divya Manav Jyoti Seva Trust and Prof. Mahesh Verma were honoured for their significant contributions in their respective fields, setting high standards for community service and dedication.

Arunoday Sharma, popularly known as the “KBC Boy”, was also presented a special award, recognizing his extraordinary achievements at a young age. Arunoday has become an icon of knowledge and learning, inspiring many through his remarkable journey and contribution to promoting education.

In his address, Chief Minister Sukhu praised the awardees, stressing the importance of acknowledging and honouring those who work tirelessly for the betterment of society. “These awards are more than just accolades; they are a reflection of the values ​​we hold dear as a community. The passion and commitment of these individuals makes Himachal Pradesh proud and is a source of inspiration for all of us,” he said.

The Independence Day celebrations were an apt occasion to honour these exceptional individuals and organisztions whose work inspires and enthuses the people of Himachal Pradesh.
