Shimla, 07 August: Himachal’s Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, accusing the government, said that the government is dependent only on rhetoric. Every day there are statements in the newspapers that the recruitment results will be announced soon and new jobs will be created, but these things are not able to move beyond mere verbal assurances.

He said that every day there are news of the Chief Minister or any minister releasing the recruitment results soon and new recruitments, but there is no news of the results being declared. The government is limited to mere rhetoric, while the youth have been waiting on the streets for one and a half years. Tired of assurances, the youth are sitting on a relay hunger strike outside the office of the Staff Selection Commission. Work cannot be done with mere assurances for such a long time. Now the government should release concrete results instead of mere rhetoric.

Jairam Thakur said that the outsourced workers working in many departments have not received salary for a long time. Many people complain that they are not getting their salary, while the responsible officers postpone it citing lack of budget. It is also not clear when the salary will be received. People working away from home have to bear the cost of living and food every month, and also have family responsibilities. In such a situation, if the salary is not received for four to six months, how will the work go on? Withholding the salary for a long time is insensitivity.
