HIMACHAL TOURISM
Shimla, July 24: Tourism in Himachal Pradesh has seen a significant surge, with over one crore tourists visiting the state in the first six months of 2024. By the end of June, a total of 1,00,87,440 tourists visited the picturesque valleys and enjoyed the pleasant climate, boosted by the facilities provided by the state government.
Popular destinations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti continued to attract many tourists, while Kullu and Shimla districts emerged as the top attractions.
The influx of tourists continued in July as well, thanks to favourable weather conditions and accessible roads. Many tourists have taken refuge in the natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh to escape the heat of the plains.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured that most of the roads will remain open despite some recent weather-related disruptions. “Some roads have been affected due to recent weather conditions, but most of the roads across the state are open and accessible to tourists and the general public. Himachal is witnessing an influx of thousands of tourists in July, and these numbers are promising. We expect two crore tourists by the end of this year,” he said.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of staying informed through travel advisories and road condition updates provided by the district administration helpline, the police department and social media handles. “The safety and enjoyment of tourists is our top priority,” he said.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensure that visitors travel safely and enjoy their holidays in Himachal Pradesh. The Public Works Department is working to clear any road blockages and restore travel routes expeditiously. The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation is also encouraging tourists to check updates on specific routes and travel with confidence. Regular updates on road conditions are being provided by the district administration and Himachal Police to ensure that tourists do not face any inconvenience during their stay in the state.
