Himachal News: 17.5 lakhs defrauded from a person in the name of sending him to America

Una, July 17: A man from Upper Arniala village near Una district headquarters in Himachal Pradesh has been duped of Rs 17.5 lakhs in the name of sending him to America. The victim has lodged a complaint with the police regarding the entire matter. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case against an unknown person and started investigation.
In the complaint given to the police, Sarvjot Singh, resident of Upper Arniala, said that he had seen a job advertisement in America on Facebook. I put my number in the advertisement. After a few days, a person from America contacted on WhatsApp number and asked for documents in the name of sending him abroad. After sending the documents, a job offer letter was sent through WhatsApp call on May 11. Two days after this, a call came again and visa approval fee was demanded. After this, Rs 17.5 lakh was deposited in separate installments.

Sarvjot says that when he suspected fraud and tried to make a video call, he was asked to pay Rs. 4.20 lakh but the money was not deposited. In such a situation, Sarvjot has lodged a complaint with the Una police. Una District Superintendent of Police Administration Rakesh Singh said that on the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case against an unknown person and started investigation.
