Himachal News: 5 arrested including father-son of Nepali origin in three cases of opium and chitta recovery in Shimla city
Shimla, July 06: Shimla police is continuously tightening its grip against those involved in drug smuggling in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. Shimla police has arrested five smugglers with narcotic substances opium and chitta in three different places of the city. These include father and son as well. In the first case, Boileauganj police has seized a consignment of opium from a father and son of Nepalese origin.

When Boileauganj Police searched the father and son of Nepali origin roaming in suspicious condition during patrolling in Boileauganj Police Station area, 2 kg 930 grams of opium was recovered from their possession. Both the accused have been identified by the Boileauganj Police Station in-charge as Santosh Kami son of Harka Bahadur and Harka Bahadur resident of Nepal.
In the second case, the team of Dhali police station arrested two accused with 10.34 grams of chitta during patrolling in the area. They have been identified as Ankush Rai, a resident of Una and Naveen Rana, a resident of Karsog, Mandi.
The third case has come to light in Sadar police station area, where Sadar police seized 2.120 grams of chitta from Sahib Singh, a resident of Sanjauli, Shimla.
Shimla District Superintendent of Police Administration Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said on Saturday that in the three cases of opium and chitta recovery, action is being taken by registering a case under the NDPS Act against the accused in the respective police station areas.
Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that in the last 15 months, Shimla police has registered 600 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested about 1,000 smugglers.
He said that Shimla police is taking action against drugs with full alertness and the property of the culprits is being seized. 20 peddlers have been arrested in the last one week.
