People filling water from hand pumps
Shimla, June 19: Like the last few years, this time too water crisis is wreaking havoc in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. Due to heatwave, there is no water left in the water projects. Due to which the water problem is becoming more serious in every area and the problems of the common people are increasing.
In view of the water problem, Shimla Municipal Corporation has imposed a complete ban on all types of construction work in the city till the arrival of monsoon on June 30 so that people can be given relief from the water problem.
Shimla Municipal Corporation is supplying water to the people through tankers in many areas after a week.
In Totu Shivnagar of Shimla, women are taking drinking water from hand pumps.
It is noteworthy that Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam is releasing 32 to 33 MLD water daily but the corporation should release 45 MLD water. Even after 32 to 33 MLD, in many areas of Shimla city, people are being given water supply through tankers after a week, due to which the claim of Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam about 32 to 33 MLD is being called false.
