Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 13 :Sewerage Treatment Plant Workers Union on Thursday protested outside Shimla Water Management Corporation office, US Club under the banner of CITU for their various demands.The employees of STP Union demand that they have been trying for all their demands for a long time, but they are being ignored by the officials.Sewerage Treatment Plant Workers Union believes that if their demands are not accepted by the officials of Shimla Water Management Corporation, then they are going to take the movement to a bigger level.Shimla Sewerage Plant Workers Union President Pankaj Sharma said that their first demand is that the wages for the work done should be given as per the order of the Supreme Court, currently the wages being given are less, which should be increased and credited in their bank accounts on the seventh of every month.
He said that the officials of Shimla Water Management Corporation should increase the wages of the employees of Sewerage Plant Workers Union and the wages should be credited their bank accounts on the seventh of every month.
He said that the employees of Sewerage Plant Workers Union work in very difficult conditions in the power plant and tunnel, risking their lives and due to the problems of their families. The health of the employees also deteriorates every day, for which no officer is responsible.
Pankaj Sharma said that The employees of the Sewerage Plant Worker Union have not been given uniforms, safety equipment or any identity card by the officials of Shimla Water Management Corporation.
He said that SJPNL is proving to be completely unsuccessful in providing drinking water facility at the Sewerage Treatment Plant. Also, the dilapidated servant quarters of the Sewerage Treatment Plant are not even being repaired.
Pankaj Sharma said that the Sewerage Treatment Plant Workers Union is staging a massive sit-in protest outside the Shimla Water Management Corporation office, US Club, for seventeen demands, And if the officials ignore their demands by not fulfilling them in time, then the union is going to take the agitation to a bigger level.
