Kerala’s only BJP MP Suresh Gopi to get a big portfolio in NDA-3
The actor-cum-politician, who won the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in Kerala and led the BJP to a historic victory, said that he has not been informed yet about the role he is being given in the third NDA government.
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 09 :Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi and his council of ministers, Suresh Gopi, the lone BJP MP from Kerala, left for New Delhi with his family on Sunday.
Responding to questions from reporters while passing through the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, BJP MP Gopi said PM Modi has summoned him to Delhi immediately.
The actor-cum-politician, who won the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in Kerala and led the BJP to a historic victory, said that he has not been informed yet about the role he is being given in the third NDA government.
Gopi said the decision to induct him into the Cabinet was taken by PM Modi.
“I am following the orders of my Prime Minister and my Home Minister – my national leaders.”
Gopi also said that “the celebration of victory should continue”.
“This is a people’s celebration. So there can be no hindrance or difference of opinion,” the Thrissur MP said.
On Thursday, Gopi had said he did not want to become a minister in the Modi government and only wanted the ministry to implement the projects proposed by him for the welfare of the people of Kerala.On Sunday, Gopi reiterated what he had said on Thursday that he would work for Kerala and also for the neighbouring state Tamil Nadu as an MP.
Suresh Gopi opened BJP’s account by defeating CPI leader VS Sunil Kumar from Thrissur Lok Sabha seat.In the results released by the Election Commission, Suresh Gopi got a total of 4,12,338 votes, while CPI leader VS Sunil Kumar had to face defeat due to registering 3,37,652 votes.
