Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Mandi, May 29Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has made a serious allegation on the ruling Sukhu government of the Congress Party of Himachal Pradesh of making changes in the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Addressing a press conference organized in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that the Himachal Pradesh government is going to make a big cut in the amount of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) after the voting of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Jairam Thakur said that the government employees of Himachal Pradesh are currently being given 50% of the salary received after retirement as pension, but after the voting of the Lok Sabha elections, the Himachal Pradesh government is going to approve giving only 30% of the salary received after retirement. And for this, the file has been prepared and now this file has also been directly sent to the Chief Secretary.
Jairam Thakur said that this file has also been included in the agenda of the cabinet meeting. This file is going to be approved in the first cabinet meeting to be held after the voting of the Lok Sabha elections.
Jairam Thakur said that if the government wants to give only 30 percent pension to the employees, then what difference will remain between OPS and NPS.
Jairam Thakur said that the Congress government has neither paid DA to the employees nor paid the arrears till now.
On the contrary, the Congress government has now made a plan to cut the pension as well.
Jairam Thakur said that the government employees of Himachal Pradesh should be cautious that their pension is going to be cut after the voting of the Lok Sabha elections.
Responding to a question asked about the closure of OPS after the BJP government came to power in the state, Jairam said that the BJP government never works with a spirit of revenge. Rather, the Congress government, after coming to power, has worked with a spirit of revenge and has shut down one thousand institutions opened during the previous BJP government.
Jairam Thakur, while refuting all the allegations being made by CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu regarding the recovery of Rs 55 lakh, said that CM Sukhu should tell where this amount was found, whose it was and most importantly, whether it was handed over to the police or any case was registered.
Jairam Thakur said that just to target the Leader of the Opposition, CM Sukhu lied in a huge public meeting that Rs 55 lakh of a certain leader has been recovered, whereas in reality neither any amount has been recovered nor any case has been registered. It has become a habit for CM Sukhu to lie by making baseless allegations in his meetings every day.
