Shimla- In the past 24 hrs, The area of lower Hills like district Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and lower part of Mandi, Solan and Sirmour. and Middle Hills like some parts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi face light rain at isolated places High Hills like Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti, and parts of Chamba and Kullu at a few places like Lahaul and Spiti various local people along with tourists are stuck in area of Atal Tunnel south portal due to snowfall. But there is no large change in the minimum and maximum temperature during the last 24 hours. The average minimum temperature was below normal whereas, the maximum temperature was normal. Today the lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong = 0.2 degrees Celcius and the highest temperature was recorded at Una =35.2 degrees Celcius. A fresh Western Disturbance, i.e., the storm that predominantly affects the northern part of India is likely to affect Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow. A fresh Western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over west Iraq & a neighborhood between 3.1 & 12.6 km above mean sea level.

Today the chief amount of snowfall is not recorded at any place, But various places in the state observed the Rainfall in the past 24 hrs. The chief amount of rainfall in millimeters ( mm) recorded in Himachal Pradesh within 24 hours occurred at Bharmaur ( 15.0 ), Chopal ( 5.0 ), Palampur ( 4.8 ), Chamba AWS ( 4.5 ), Narkanda AWS ( 4.0 ), Baijnath (4.0 ), Sainj AWS ( 3.0 ), Nadaun ( 2.5 ), Rohru ( 2.0 ), Theog ( 2.0 ), Jogindarnagar ( 2.0 ),  Khadrala ( 1.0 ), Kukumsheri AWS ( 0.6 ), Shimla ( 0.2 ).

 The report given by Lahaul & Spiti police says, from 10 April 2024, a momentous occasion unfolded as the police checkpost at Darcha was open standing as an indispensable component of our persistent dedication to successful rescue operations of the local people or visitors stuck in any part of the state due to avalanche or heavy rainfall, strengthing security measures of the state; which is the primary concern of any state, and maintaining law and order in our district. Established in the district, this checkpost has been established to increase surveillance and peace during the Lok Sabha election of 2024 which started from 19 April to 1 June 2024 as per the data gave by the Election Commission of India and assembly Bye-election,i.e,  the election to choose a new Member of Parliament for a particular constituency, and to ensure the safety and careful checking of vehicles and pedestrians passing through the important corridor. Lahaul and Spiti police are always fully committed to promoting an environment of safety and security for the people of the state and visitors.

Surender Paul, the director of the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, attributed the shift in the weather to an active western disturbance, a disturbance caused due to the disturbance in the atmosphere originating from the western part of India. He said that there should be heavy rainfall in the lower hills area of Himachal Pradesh which includes districts like Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi along with the warning of heavy rainfall in this area. the Meteorological Centre at Shimla has issued a warning of potential Dust storms and hailstorms. As per the Ministry of Earth Science and Meteorological Department, between 13th April to 15 April, the weather of Himachal Pradesh is set to take a turn for the worse. That means across the state residents and visitors have to experience harsh weather during this period. So, they should be careful while traveling across the state during this period. During this period, the high hills area of Himachal Pradesh which includes Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti is likely to experience snowfall as per the report the area of Atal Tunnel south portal experience snowfall from today and it may continue till 15th April. Due to this the residents or visitors will experience the drop in temperature across the state. Presently, the temperatures are seen as normal, but they are expected to change with the incoming weather conditions.
