Himachal: Work of Connecting 2321 Settlements of State With Road Facilities Started with Rs. 2600 Crores
State government has set a target of connecting even the smallest villages of Himachal Pradesh by road. Regarding this, state government has given priority to roads in the MLA priority. If any person’s land comes in the way, then that land will have to be transferred to the name of the Public Works Department.

Work of connecting 2321 settlements of Himachal Pradesh with road facilities has been started. Its plan has been prepared by the Public Works Department. Within a year in Himachal Pradesh, State government has connected 15,561 out of 17,882 habitations with road facilities. Some roads are built by NABARD, while many roads are built under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana Phase-3.
Under phase three, tenders for roads have started being allotted. More than Rs 2600 crore has been released by the Central Government for these roads. Of these, Himachal Pradesh’s share is more than Rs 200 crore.
Himachal Pradesh government has connected villages with population of 500 and 250 with road facilities under phase one and two. Now, under phase three, the missing villages and hamlets are to be connected by road.

Although earlier affidavits were taken from people. Public Works Department believes that many people used to back out after giving affidavit. In such a situation, road work gets stuck in limbo. In such a situation, since the land is in the name of the Public Works Department, there will be no problems in work.
Engineer-in-Chief of Public Works Department, Ajay Gupta said that every village of Himachal Pradesh has to be connected with road facilities. In such a situation, along with connecting the village with roads, special attention has been asked to be given to its quality as well. Rain water drainage drains and culverts have also been added to road tender.
