Mandi News: Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi appointed VC of SPU Mandi after an eight-month wait
Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge.

Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi, Director of National Institute of Technology Srinagar, Uttarakhand, has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi has been appointed VC SPU Mandi, after consultation with the state government. The complete notification regarding the appointment has been issued by Raj Bhavan Shimla on Thursday.
Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge.
Service conditions of Vice Chancellor Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi are going to be decided by the state government. Regarding service conditions, orders have been issued by the Governor and Chancellor of Sardar Patel University Shiv Pratap Shukla with immediate effect.

Let us tell you that After a long wait of almost eight months, Sardar Patel University Mandi has got a new VC in the form of Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi. Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi is a native of Sundernagar Purana Bazar of District Mandi. Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi had completed a five-year tenure as the Director of NIT Jalandhar. Prof. Awasthi of Mandi district has also held the additional charge of NIT Delhi (for about 4 months) and NIT Hamirpur from 14 August 2020 to 9 October 2021. After this Prof. Awasthi has been the acting director of NIT Hamirpur till 3 February 2022. Prof. Awasthi has a distinguished track record of quality teaching, research and academic administration and institution excellence. Prof. Awasthi completed his PhD from IIT Roorkee (2003) and M.Tech from IIT Delhi (1993), both in Computer Science and Engineering. Pro. Awasthi’s academic career spans more than three decades, which is going to provide immense benefits and experience to all the students studying under SPU Mandi in the upcoming three years.
