Water Cess: Notice To 20 More Companies For Not Depositing Water Cess In Himachal

An amount of approximately twenty-seven crore rupees has been deposited by twenty-five power projects of the government undertaking of Himachal Pradesh. Till now only thirty-five projects have deposited water cess to Water Commission. A total of one hundred and seventy three hydro power projects are running in Himachal Pradesh.

Water Commission has issued notices to twenty more power companies for non-deposit of water cess. Orders have been issued to all the twenty electricity companies to deposit the water cess bill by 15th January. If the amount of water cess is not deposited, then strict action will be taken by the Water Commission against twenty more power companies. An amount of approximately twenty-seven crore rupees has been deposited with the Water Commission by twenty-five power projects of the government undertaking of Himachal Pradesh. Till now only thirty-five power projects have deposited water cess amount with Himachal Pradesh Water Commission. A total of one hundred and seventy three hydro power projects are being operated in Himachal Pradesh.

It is noteworthy that the Himachal Pradesh government has halved the rates of water cess charged from all 173 hydro power projects. To bring the economy of Himachal Pradesh back on track, the Himachal Pradesh government has taken an important decision to impose water cess on energy producers. Earlier, Himachal Pradesh government had taken an important decision of collecting water cess from Rs 0.10 to Rs 0.50 per cubic meter, now the recovery amount of water cess has been reduced from Rs 0.06 to Rs 0.30 per cubic meter. Separate tariffs have also been made to collect the new rates of water cess.

Jal Jeevan Mission will end in the coming month of March –

Shimla Correspondent, Kumud Sharma – Jal Jeevan Mission will end from March 2024. Before the scheduled time, Himachal Pradesh Government will have to complete all the important works worth crores of rupees released under Jal Jeevan Mission on time. Recently, an amount of seventy-four crore rupees has been released to the Himachal Pradesh government by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Even before this, an amount of crores of rupees has been released to the Himachal Pradesh Government from the Central Narendra Modi Government under the Jal Jeevan Mission. If all the important works are not completed within the stipulated time, then the amount of crores of rupees released can be taken back by the Central Government.

It is noteworthy that under Jal Jeevan Mission, water connections have been installed in lakhs of houses in Himachal Pradesh. All the drinking water sources of Himachal Pradesh are going to be improved with the amount of Rs 74 crore recently released by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
