Next week, he will attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor’s meeting in Ahmedabad. Banga took charge of the World Bank in the first week of June. He is the first person of Indian origin to hold the post of President of both the International Financial Institution – IMF and World Bank.

Ajay Banga: Ajay Banga is coming to India for the first time after becoming the head of the World Bank. Next week, he will attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor’s meeting in Ahmedabad. Banga took charge of the World Bank in the first week of June. He is the first person of Indian origin to hold the post of President of both the International Financial Institution – IMF and World Bank.

India currently holds the presidency of the G20. Gujarat will host four G20 meetings in the first two weeks of July. According to officials, these meetings will provide an opportunity to the business representatives to share their views and policy recommendations on various economic and business related topics. Ajay Banga said that these meetings will play a very important role in shaping the global economic agenda and policies.

Banga is the first Indian-American to head the World Bank. He has come in place of David Malpas, who decided to resign in February. Banga was earlier the Vice Chairman of General Atlantic. Prior to that, he was the chairman and chief executive officer of global conglomerate Mastercard. Approximately 24,000 employees work in Mastercard.
