Steam leak at Odisha’s Tata Steel plant, 19 scorched workers hospitalized

19 workers got scorched due to leakage of steam at Tata Steel Plant in Odisha. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital. In a statement issued by Tata Steel, it has been said that there has been an accident at the BFPP2 power plant due to steam release at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha.

19 workers got scorched due to leakage of steam at Tata Steel Plant in Odisha. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital. In a statement issued by Tata Steel, it has been said that there has been an accident at the BFPP2 power plant due to steam release at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha.

The statement said that the accident happened at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Some people doing inspection work and working at the site were injured in the incident. Those who have been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. Immediately after the accident, all emergency protocol services were activated.

In a statement, Tata Steel says, “We are saddened to report an accident at the BFPP2 power plant due to escape of steam at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha.

It has been said on behalf of Tata Steel that it has contacted the family members of the affected employees and they are being helped. Along with this, it has been said on behalf of the company that we are working closely with the concerned authorities on the ground and an internal investigation has been started to find out the cause of the accident. Safety is our top priority and we are committed to learning from this incident.
