US President 2024 : Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina made an official statement on Friday that he is running for president .Senate’s Scott is the only black Republican, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission announcing his intention to seek his party’s nomination in 2024.
The deeply religious 57-year-old former insurance broker has made his grandfather’s work in the Deep South’s cotton fields the cornerstone of his political identity. Yet he rejects the notion that racism remains a powerful force in society, and has cast his candidacy and rising above generational poverty as the realization of a dream possible only in America.
Scott, who last month formed an exploratory committee that allowed him to raise and spend money while weighing a White House campaign, on Monday signed a letter to Charleston Southern University, a private Baptist college and Scott’s alma mater, North Carolina. Made the formal announcement in his hometown of Charleston.
