Government and people alike are participating in preparations to host the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting on May 23 and 24 in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a report, the preparations are in full swing. Efforts are being made to bring Srinagar to center stage as a global city and to welcome international delegates. As per reports, the residents of Srinagar are supporting all the efforts of the government for the rejuvenation of the city.

Despite facing difficulties due to development works, not complaining

The report said that despite facing difficulties due to the ongoing development works, they are not complaining. People are cooperating as they understand that their city is ready to host an important international event, which will turn Srinagar into a tourism hub of global importance.

Especially till August 5, 2019 – when the Center announced its decision to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate it into two union territories, Srinagar city observes shutdown against Pakistan-sponsored separatists and terrorists used to do. As per reports, as on date there is no separatist left in Kashmir, who can call for bandh or hold street protests. Eagerly waiting for the G20 summit to be held in Srinagar as a common man wants his city to be integrated globally.

Srinagar’s new look and people discussing the upcoming G20 summit are proof enough of how the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir is looking forward to the event.

Srinagar airport upgraded

The report added that the Srinagar airport has been upgraded to accommodate international flights. Night landing facility has been provided, which has increased the number of tourists.

Several other steps have been taken to enable Srinagar to remove inadequacies and anomalies. New infrastructure is being built to accommodate the huge influx of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir during the last three decades.
