Jammu & Kashmir - Lithium Reserves Ready For December Auctioned.

Lithium Reserve Preparations are now being made for the auction regarding the lithium reserves found in India. The central government is all set to invite bids for the auction of newly discovered lithium reserves in Jammu in the beginning of the June quarter.
This would be a move that would give India access to the strategic mineral and bode well for everything from mobile phones to electric vehicles.
According to report, a government official said that the search is not an early stage search and the government plans to invite bids to start the process.
This is a G-3 level discovery, which means we are sure of significant reserves and hence starting the process of mining this important non-ferrous metal very soon, the official said.
The official said that the auction will be open to all, like any other government auction, with a key condition that the government will mandate that lithium be used only in India and not depend on other countries.

Auction of lithium reserves found in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi will be started by December, said Secretary Ministry of Mines Vivek Bharadwaj.
Ministry of Mines of India has told that large lithium reserves were discovered in Jammu and Kashmir. The Geological Survey of India first discovered lithium reserves of 5.9 million tonnes in the Salal-Haimana area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, 650 km north of Delhi.
51 mineral blocks including Lithium and Gold have been given to the State Governments-
Ministry of Mines, 51 mineral blocks including Lithium and Gold have been given to the State Governments. Out of these 51 mineral blocks, 5 blocks are related to gold. Other blocks are spread over 11 states of Jammu Kashmir, Union Territory, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka. It has been prepared on the basis of the works of 2018 to 2019.
