Asian Conflict before the Asia Cup 2023
One of the world’s most heated sporting rivalries is the one between India and Pakistan in cricket. The intensity of the contests among India and its border is well recognised. It ranks among the most watched sporting events and is regarded to be among the biggest games in the world. It is frequently referred to as cricket’s “El Clásico.”

India’s games are predicted to take place in a third country. While the Asia Cup 2023 is most likely to be staged in Pakistan. Due to the recent deterioration in relations between India and Pakistan, New Delhi is unwilling to play cricket with its neighbour.
As BCCI and PCB seek to find a quick solution, India’s fixtures now at Asia Cup further this year will take place at a neutral site. India refused to come to Pakistan for such competition, and the two cricket governing bodies were at odds in the public eye.
In retaliation, the PCB threatened to skip the ICC ODI World Cup in India. Now that the dispute appears to have been settled. Pakistan will host the matches, whereas, India will host its games either in Oman, Sri Lanka, or the United Arab Emirates.
The two cricket governing bodies are attempting to reach a quick agreement after a protracted deadlock, with the event scheduled to begin in September. All other matches will be played in Pakistan, but India’s five games, including those against Pakistan, will be played in a neutral site.
The choice was decided following a meeting last week in Dubai between PCB executives and representatives from every Asian Cricket Council member. While India was represented by Arun Dhumal and Jay Shah, who is also the president of ACC, the PCB’s chief executive officer, Najam Sethi, represented his board. A choice was reached following two rounds of discussion.
The board has taken a firm stance on the impending World Cup, saying that the Pakistan squad won’t go to India for the World Cup if the Indian team doesn’t compete in the Asia Cup.
There have been conversations about maybe pulling Pakistan out of hosting the Asia Cup and switching it to Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in the hopes that ties between India and Pakistan will likely have improved in two years and Pakistan will host the Asia Cup once more.
