Worship of Mahagauri on the eighth Navratri, know why the mother is worshipped in this form

Mother Gauri

Today is the eighth day of Sharadiya Navratri, i.e. today Mother Gauri is worshipped. Mother Gauri is considered to be the eighth form among the nine forms of Durga. Worship of the mother leads to supernatural powers. Mother Mahagauri removes the suffering of the devotees and even impossible tasks become possible. All the nine goddesses are pleased by the worship of Mahagauri.

Form of Mother Mahagauri

Mahagauri has four arms. Her vehicle is Taurus. She has Abhaya Mudra in her upper right hand and Trishula in her lower right hand. Damaru in the upper left hand and VaradaMudra in the lower left hand. Her posture is very calm. This Mahagauri appeared in the name of Shakambhari in the Himalayan range on the prayers of the gods.

Know why the goddess is worshipped in the eighth form

According to the mythological tale, the goddess did a rigorous penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband, due to which her body became black. Pleased with the goddess’ penance, the Lord accepts her and Shiva washes her body with Ganga water, then the goddess becomes as bright as electricity and fair in complexion and since then she is named Gauri. In the form of Mahagauri, the goddess looks compassionate, affectionate, calm and gentle.

How to worship the mother

On Maha Ashtami, take a bath and wear clean clothes and first worship the Kalash. Use yellow flowers in the worship. Along with this, offer coconut as well. Recite Mahagauri mantra, stuti etc. Offer coconut and sweets made from it, puri, halwa and black gram to Gauri Mata.
