Shimla, June 18: After the removal of the Model Code of Conduct by the Election Commission in Himachal Pradesh, the first cabinet meeting was held at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, Shimla. During this, the Blind Person’s Association staged a massive sit-in protest against the Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh near the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, Shimla. During this, the Himachal Pradesh Police personnel tried hard to remove the members of the Blind Person’s Association from the road, in which a fight also took place between the Himachal Pradesh Police and the visually impaired people.
Members of the Blind Persons Association demonstrated demanding backlog recruitments which have been pending for the last 8 months.
The members of the association said that they are only being given false assurances by the Sukhu government, but no decision has been taken in their favour even after eight months.
Visually impaired people staged a massive protest outside the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, Shimla. They said that for the past 8 months, they have been continuously demanding from the Himachal Pradesh government to fill the backlog quota vacancies pending in various departments of Himachal Pradesh together under the recruitment fair, but till now no decision has been taken by the Himachal Pradesh government on the backlog quota vacancies.
Due to which visually impaired people have to come out on the streets to protest against the injustice being done to them. Visually impaired people say that being visually impaired is in itself the biggest challenge of life. Still, if any kind of harm is caused to any visually impaired during the protest, then the Himachal Pradesh government and Himachal Pradesh police will be held completely responsible for it.
