The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to make a life-size statue of Sachin Tendulkar, to be installed at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Tendulkar, who retired from all forms of cricket in November 2013, is the most successful batsman in the history of international cricket. He has scored 100 international centuries and has played in 200 Tests and 463 ODIs.
Speaking about the statue, MCA president Amol Kale said, “It is a befitting tribute to the greatest cricketer of our times. No other cricketer has received such adulation from cricket fans all over the world.”
“This is a very memorable moment for the fans and for Sachin Tendulkar itself. It’s a special achievement for a sports person. The statue will be an inspiration for the next generation of cricketers,” he added.
