Mumbai are off the mark with two points after three straight losses. It was a perfect game for them as captain Rohit said, but RCB have a lot to think. Skipper Kohli. Although he made 92 and surpassed Suresh Raina to become the highest run-getter in IPL history.

Rohit Sharma’s Performance

Captain Rohit Sharma struck a brilliant 94 before his bowlers produced a clinical performance as Mumbai Indians MI beat Royal Challengers Bangalore RCB by 46 runs in their IPL match on Tuesday. Put in to bat, Mumbai recovered from a shock start of 02 to post 2136, their highest score of the season, mainly through the splendid batting of Rohit 94 in 52 balls and opener Evin Lewis 65 in 42 balls.

Man of the Match Comments

Rohit (Man of the Match) said, “It wasnt the ideal start for us. I thought Umesh bowled in the right areas. The wicket was still soft when I went in. So it was important to spend some time and it was better to bat with the dew coming in. It was a perfect game for us. We lost the last three games, but we were playing good cricket. I think me batting at 4 gives the balance to the side and gives the new guys the freedom to bat at the top. It is important to finish off games”.

RCB’s Performance

RCB captain Virat Kohlis aggressive 62-ball 92 was the lone bright spot in the visitors run-chase of 214 as they lost their way after a promising start. Kohli, who opened the innings, slammed four sixes and seven fours in his unbeaten knock but none of the other batsmen gave him support.

Virat’s Comment on teams Performance

Virat Kohli’s rarely looked this dejected angry, “It was a good game of cricket as far as Mumbai were concerned. I dont feel like wearing this orange cap right now because it really doesnt matter. We got off to a great start but we just threw it away, and need to reflect on our dismissals. We knew there would be a little bit of dew, we needed not your 40-45s but 80-85s. In the end it was all about making sure that the run-rate doesnt take a hit credit to Mumbai though, they bowled really well”.

MI vs RCB

  • Amazing how this game turned around. Umesh Yadav got the best of starts for RCB taking two wickets off the first two balls of the game, but MI believed and the captain stepped up big time.
  • Evin Lewis was brilliant with the way he counter-attacked and RCB never came back from that.
  • Rohit Sharma just missed a hundred, while the rest chipped in with cameos.
  •  RCB needed a good start. They got off to a pretty decent start actually, but 2 wickets in a space of 4 balls from McClenaghan derailed the chase.
  • Captain Kohli fought a lone battle. He was hurt by the lack of intent from his team-mates, the anger was evident with a few shots that he played, and towards the end he was so frustrated that he was just going through the motions.
