The 74th Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2023 at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. A huge display of military power and cultural heritage was done in the parade of Republic Day. The guest of honor of the event was The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El- Sisi. The beauty of the Republic Day parade is in the military troops and the various tableau of different states and ministries. 

A total of 23 tableaux were selected to be displayed on the Republic Day Parade. Out of the 23 tableaux, 17 were of states and union territories and 6 were of various ministries and departments. All these depict the rich cultural heritage, economic progress, and strong internal and external security. The tableaux were divided into 6 zones and a total of 17 tableaux were selected for Republic Day Parade. The 6 zonal categories are Northern Zone, Central Zone, Eastern Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone, and North-Eastern Zone. All the tableaux represented the art and culture of the states they belong to. 

TABLEAUX OF 74TH REPUBLIC DAY

 All the tableaux represented in the Republic Day Parade are as follows.

MINISTRIES AND DEPARTMENTS

  • MINISTRY OF CULTURE  

The theme of the tableaux was feminine divinity, “Shakti Rupena Samsthita”. The form of “Devi” was depicted by art and dance. The colorful tableau represented “Devi Puja’ and folk dance that celebrated the tradition of “Devi”. The theme of the dance was “Nari Shakti” with 326 female dancers and 153 male dancers, doing a fusion of classical, folk, and contemporary. 

  • MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS

They displayed two tableaux, one was from the department of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The theme of the tableau was “Resolve @75- Drug-Free India”. They represented the aim of a drug-free India. The second department that took part was Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

  • MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS

The department of Central Public Work Department (CPWD) took part under this ministry in the Republic Day parade. The theme was “@Subhas125”, representing the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, which was on 23rd of January 23. 

  • MINISTRY OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS

The theme of the tableaux was “Nari Shakti”. The tableaux represent the right to education of girls. 

  • MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE

The theme of the tableaux which was represented by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research was “Kisan Gandhi”. The theme displayed the idea of promoting agriculture and supporting farmers. It also symbolized the promotion of Indian-made products. 

ALL THE STATES 

  • ARUNACHAL PRADESH 

The theme of the tableaux was “Tourism”. It displayed the potential of tourism and adventure sports. It displayed the potential of the state in adventure sports, ecology, culture, religion, history, and heritage. 

  • TRIPURA

The theme of the tableaux was “Sustainable Livelihood through Tourism”. It represented the future idea of promoting tourism in the state and organic farming for better development of the people living in the state.

  • WEST BENGAL 

The theme of the tableaux was “Durga Puja”. The Durga puja is also UNESCO’s cultural heritage. The highlight of the tableaux was women’s empowerment. The goddess Durga represents woman empowerment. 

  • GUJARAT

The theme of the Tableaux of the state was “Clean-Green Energy Efficient State”. It resembles the idea of making Gujrat a green energy efficiency state for the government in the coming years. It was based on the renewable resources of energy.

  • HARYANA 

The theme of the state tableaux was “Bhagavad Gita”. It represented the teaching of Gita given by Lord Krishan to Arjun as his charioteer. 

  • MAHARASTRA

The theme of the tableaux of the state was “Sade Tin Shaktipithe and Nari Shakti”. The tableaux symbolize goddesses as the source of power. Ghondali was shown playing the instrument sambal in association with the goddess.

  • UTTAR PRADESH

The theme of the sate tableaux was “Ayodhya Deepotsav”. The center of the tableaux shows the birth of Ram at the bank of the Sarya River and the side panels depict the deepotsav paintings.

  • UTTRAKHAND

The theme of the tableaux was “Corbett National Park’ representing the idea of conservation of wildlife and biodiversity. 

  • JHARKHAND

The tableaux represented the tribal culture. The famous Babadham Temple in Deogha was present in the tableaux. The statue of Birse Munda is in the front and the Adavsi art Sohrai is at the side panels. 

  • ANDHRA PRADESH

The theme of the tableaux was “Prabhala Theertham”. It’s the peasantry festival during Makar Sankranti. It showcased the festival ritual and celebration. 

  • TAMIL NADU

The tableaux were based on woman empowerment and the culture of the state. The statue of poet Avvaiyar was in the front representing intellectual women. The tableaux show the cultural heritage from the Sangam era to the present day.

  • KARNATAKA 

It is the only state that has participated in the parade for 14 consecutive years. The theme of the tableaux was woman empowerment. 

  • KERALA 

Kerala tableaux were based on “Nari Shakti”, representing women’s empowerment through folk and culture. The tractor portrays Karthyayani Amma, she is the winner of Nari Shakti Puruskar in the year 2020. She won the award for top scoring in the literacy examination at age of 96 years.

UNION TERRITORIES 

  • LADHKA 

The theme was “Tourism and Composite Culture”. It depicted the tour’s enrichment of Ladhka and also represents the harmonic relationship with nature and the rest of the world.

  • JAMMU AND KASHMIR 

The theme of the New Jammu and Kashmir was the culture of the union territory. It showcased the potential of pilgrimage and recreational tourism.

  • DADAR KI HAVELI

It was another tableau that represent the theme “Conservation of Tribal Culture and Heritage”.

  • DAMAN AND DIU

The theme of the tableaux was woman empowerment along with cultural diversity.
