Tata Sets the Stage for Electric Domination: Punch EV Debuts with Acti.ev Platform.
Tata Motors made waves with the launch of the Punch EV at an attractive starting price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Scheduled for customer deliveries starting next week, this electric micro SUV marks a significant milestone as the first model on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, the brand’s second-generation modular EV architecture.
As Tata continues to make strides in the electric vehicle space, it has officially confirmed plans to introduce four more zero-emission vehicles using the Acti.ev platform between 2024 and 2025 in India. The Acti.ev platform boasts a versatile design tailored for diverse body styles, featuring a reinforced structure aligning with upcoming safety protocols.

Prioritizing cabin space and storage, the Acti.ev showcases a flat floor without a transmission tunnel, accompanied by an additional frunk to maximize room for occupants. Tata emphasizes improved driving dynamics by lowering the center of gravity.
The battery pack layout offers a flexible range of 300 km to 600 km, and the modular drivetrain allows for All-Wheel Drive (AWD), Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), or Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) configurations.
Charging flexibility is a highlight, with on-board chargers supporting capacities ranging from 7.2 kW to 11 kW for AC fast charging, along with DC fast charging capabilities up to 150 kW. This equates to a remarkable boost of 100 km range within a mere 10-minute charging window.
Looking ahead, Tata’s electric vehicle lineup is poised for expansion. In the first half of 2024, the Curvv EV is set to debut, followed by the Harrier EV. The Altroz EV and Sierra EV are slated for launch by the mid-2020s, promising driving ranges exceeding 500 km on a single charge. Tata’s commitment to an electric future is evident, with the Acti.ev platform driving innovation and sustainability in its upcoming EV offerings.
