Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 04In the counting of votes for Himachal Pradesh assembly by-election, the ruling Congress party has won the Sujanpur assembly seat of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh’s home district Hamirpur.With the victory in Sujanpur assembly seat, the total number of Congress party MLAs in the state assembly has increased from 34 to 35.As the counting of votes of the remaining five seats of the assembly by-election will come, the total number of Congress party MLAs in the state assembly is going to go above thirty-five.Let us tell you that after the completion of eight rounds of counting of votes for Sujanpur assembly by-election seat of Hamirpur district, Congress party candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana got 28,577 votes, while BJP candidate Rajinder Rana got 26,403 votes.While in the Sujanpur assembly by-election seat, a total of 792 votes were registered including NOTA and other candidates.

It is worth noting that in the last assembly elections, Rajinder Rana, who won the Congress seat with great difficulty, rebelled and joined the BJP.After that, all the six rebel MLAs who rebelled against the Congress and joined the BJP were given tickets by the BJP in the by-election.Rajinder Rana emerged after the 2017 assembly elections, when he defeated his own guru and BJP’s CM candidate Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal.

 

Congress candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana got 952 votes in postal ballot.In Sujanpur assembly by-election seat, Congress candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana got a total of 29 thousand 529 votes.In Sujanpur assembly by-election seat, Congress candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana got a vote percentage of 51.04 percent.

BJP candidate Rajinder Rana, who came second, got 686 votes in postal ballot. BJP candidate Rajinder Rana got a total of 27089 votes. BJP candidate Rajinder Rana got a vote percentage of 47.16%.

The most important thing is that Congress candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana has won the Sujanpur assembly by-election by defeating BJP candidate Rajinder Rana by a margin of 2 thousand 440 votes.

It is worth noting that Rajinder Rana had won the assembly elections of 2022 on a Congress ticket by just 399 votes and defeated BJP candidate Captain Ranjit Singh Rana by a very small margin.A total of 73.76% voting was recorded in the Sujanpur assembly by-election & women had registered ten percent more voting than men.
