Solan, August 21: A 27-year-old youth Vijay Kumar committed suicide in Salogra village of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Police station Sadar, Solan received information from Regional Hospital Solan that Vijay Kumar was brought to the hospital from Salogra for treatment, where doctors declared him dead. On receiving the information, the police team of Police Station Sadar, Solan immediately reached the hospital, where the body of Vijay Kumar was lying in the emergency room. Family members were also present there.
In the verification done by the police, it was found that the deceased Vijay Kumar, son Shyam Lal, was a resident of village and post office Salogra, tehsil and district Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Initial investigation found that Vijay Kumar committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. Police inspected the dead body in the presence of the family members of the deceased. During the inspection, apart from the hanging mark on the neck of the deceased, no injury or scratch marks were found on other parts of the body.
After completing the formalities, the police got the postmortem of the deceased done at the Regional Hospital Solan. Statements of the family members of the deceased were also recorded. After this, the police team conducted a thorough inspection of the spot where Vijay Kumar had hanged himself. A piece of belt hanging from the fan in the room and other evidence were also seized. No suspicious object was found on the spot.
During the investigation, statements of the deceased’s brother and other family members were also recorded. According to their statements, on August 19, 2024, Vijay Kumar went to his room after having dinner and locked the door from inside. When he did not open the door for a long time, his mother sent the elder son Ajay to see Vijay. Ajay climbed on a chair near the window and looked inside through the skylight, then Vijay Kumar was hanging from the fan. The family members broke the door and took Vijay down from the noose and immediately took him to the Regional Hospital Solan, where doctors declared him dead.
Based on the investigation and statements of witnesses, the police have come to the conclusion that Vijay Kumar committed suicide by tying the belt to the fan. The family members of the deceased and others have also not expressed any kind of doubt on his death in their statements. However, the police is investigating the matter from every aspect on a priority basis. After the post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family for cremation. The viscera of the deceased and other recovered evidence are being sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Junga Lab for chemical testing. Action is being taken in the case under Section 174 B CrPC.
