Heavy snowfall continues in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh. It is raining heavily in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla as well as in all other parts. Due to heavy rain and snowfall, the effect of cold wave is increasing in the entire state. Due to heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, four national highways and 518 roads remained closed for traffic till 10 am on Sunday. On the other hand, 478 power transformers of Himachal Pradesh are also lying closed. Due to closure of transformer, there has been blackout in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. There is fog along with heavy rain in the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh.
Heavy snowfall and rain started immediately in Kullu district and Lahaul –
The weather has once again changed in Kullu district and Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy snowfall and rain continues in Kullu district and Lahaul. Due to fresh snowfall, movement of heavy vehicles from Atal Tunnel Rohtang to Lahaul has been stopped. Due to the latest snowfall, Lahaul’s direct connectivity with Kullu district has been cut off. Since late night on Sunday, there has been fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and heavy rain in the lower areas.
Fresh snowfall of 15 cm in North Atal Tunnel Rohtang, 12 cm in South Portal and 9 cm in Sissu has been recorded by IMD Shimla.
Due to rain and heavy snowfall, the miseries of common people are increasing. The wheels of HRTC buses have stopped on the routes of rural areas of Himachal Pradesh. In the valley too, the sufferings of common people are increasing due to severe cold.
Heavy snowfall once again recorded in Pangi of Lahaul-Spiti district –
On the other hand, heavy snowfall has started once again in Pangi, the tribal area of Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday morning.
Due to heavy snowfall, tribal area Pangi has already been cut off from the country and the world. Due to lack of contact with the country and the world, the heavy snowfall that has started once again in the tribal area of Pangi has increased the troubles of the Pangi residents. Most of the panchayats of tribal area Pangi are immersed in darkness due to blackout for four days.
Due to blackout, fresh snowfall has started once again, adding to the worries of Pangi residents. The traffic system has completely come to a standstill on the tribal area Pangi to Kullu district, Lahaul road as well as 19 connecting routes. After 2 feet heavy snowfall in Sural of Pangi tribal area, now heavy snowfall has started again.
Cold wave outbreak continues in Kangra district also –
It has been raining heavily in the plains of Dharamshala, a tourist town in Kangra district, since Sunday morning. While heavy snowfall continues in Dhauladhar hills of Kangra district. Traffic on the road is being affected due to fog. Drivers are traveling slowly with vehicle lights on. Cold wave continues in entire Kangra district.
Holiday declared in colleges of Lahaul-Spiti district till 11th February –
Due to heavy snowfall in Pangi tribal area of Lahaul-Spiti district, holiday has been declared in all the colleges till 11th February. Leave orders have been issued by Ritika Jindal, Resident Commissioner of Lahaul-Spiti district.
Due to heavy rain and fresh snowfall, problems of common people increased in entire Mandi district –
Due to continuous heavy rain and fresh snowfall since Saturday night, the problems of common people have increased in the entire Mandi district. Life has become disrupted in the upper areas of Mandi district. The entire Mandi district is in the grip of cold wave. Due to heavy snowfall in Mandi district so far, 36 roads, 100 power transformers and 35 drinking water schemes of Mandi district have been affected.
In many areas of Siraj, Chauharghati and Nachan of Mandi district, supply of essential goods has stopped and power transformers are lying closed.
Water problems have increased due to dense darkness and blockage of water pipes at many places in Mandi district. Common people are extracting water by melting snow.
Atal Tunnel Rohtang closed for traffic, tourist vehicles also stopped in Nehru Kund –
About seven inches of fresh snowfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla at Atal Tunnel Rohtang (Dhundhi) South Portal. Due to fresh snowfall, no vehicles are being allowed to go towards Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Also, tourist vehicles are being sent only up to Nehru Kund. Heavy snowfall continues in the tourist city of Manali also. Up to 4 inches of fresh snowfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in the rural areas adjacent to the tourist city Manali. Kullu District Administration has appealed to all the tourists and travelers arriving from India and abroad to check the weather before traveling in bad weather and keep all the tourist guidelines in mind.
The high altitude areas of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh have also been covered with a white blanket of snow. More than 60 cm of snowfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in Chitkul in Kinnaur district. Due to heavy snowfall, cold wave has increased in the upper areas of Kinnaur district.

Road jam on National Highway 05 in Charabra, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, for several hours due to heavy slippage. The road in Charabra has been restored for traffic but due to frost, the snow on the road has turned into glass on which vehicles are slipping. Six roads are still closed near Kufri and Fagu of Shimla. Heavy and light snowfall continues in Fagu during the day due to which relief and rescue operations are facing difficulties.
According to Meteorological Center Shimla, heavy rain and snowfall is expected in many areas of central and high hill districts of Himachal Pradesh till February 5.
IMD Shimla is also predicting heavy rain in the plains of Himachal Pradesh.
On February 4, a yellow alert of heavy snowfall in Kullu, Chamba, Shimla, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh was issued by IMD Shimla.
IMD Shimla has predicted thunderstorms and lightning at some places in the plains and lower hills as well as in the central hill districts of Himachal Pradesh.
Whereas on February 6, the possibility of heavy rain and snowfall at one to two places in the high mountainous parts of Himachal Pradesh has been expressed by IMD Shimla.
IMD Shimla has predicted clear weather in entire Himachal Pradesh from 7th February.
Even on Sunday, due to heavy rains, the supply of milk, bread, vegetables etc. was not reaching the common people.
On the other hand, due to bad weather due to heavy rains, the officers and employees of the Public Works Department are facing difficulties in the work of restoration of roads.
