Sirmour: 48 Year Old Man Attacked By Elephant, Dies In Hospital

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Paonta Sahib(Sirmour), March 09: A case of an elephant attacking and killing a person has come to light in Sainwala forest under Majra police station area of Paonta Sahib sub-division of Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. The elephant had badly injured the man, after which injured man died on the way to the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Tapendra (48), son of Heera Singh, village Kyari, Post Office Kyari Gunda, Tehsil Kamrau, District Sirmour.

Majra police said that information about a person being attacked was received through telephone. After this the Majra police teams left for Sainwala forest. Majra police has also found footprints of elephant in Sainwala forest.

Gurjar present in Sainwala forest told that when he saw the person in injured condition, Injured Person was taken to the hospital with the help of local people. But the person died in the hospital.

Majra police said that in the preliminary investigation the cause of death appears to be elephant attack.

On Friday, post-mortem of Tapendra body was done and handed over to his family for last rites. Majra police station in-charge Pratap Parmar has confirmed the matter.

Let us tell you that a few months ago, a 70-year-old woman had died in an elephant attack in Kolar Panchayat. A woman living in Harijan Basti was attacked by an elephant about 500 meters away from her house. The elderly woman also died in the hospital.
