Shimla, September 05: Cases of molestation of girl students are increasing in the capital. In the last five days, three incidents of molestation of girl students have come to light. In two cases, teachers have been accused of molesting girl students in school and college premises. The third incident of molestation is shocking.
A case of molestation and obscene acts with a girl student travelling in an HRTC bus, which is considered safe for travel, has come to light. The shocking thing is that two employees of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) have been accused of molesting the girl student. Both the accused were also travelling with the girl student in a government bus.
One of the accused who molested the girl is a driver of HRTC and the other is a mechanic. The victim is a student of a private educational institution. On her complaint, Sunni police took immediate action and arrested both the accused early this morning. A case has been registered against them under molestation and other sections.
The 21-year-old student said in her complaint to the police that on Wednesday evening she boarded an HRTC bus from Shimla to Karsog for Sunni from her institute. Both the accused boarded the same bus near Badman Dhar. According to the victim, she was sitting on the last seat of the bus, where the conductor sits. When the bus reached near a place called 18/2, Chaman Prakash got up from the front seat and sat next to her and started asking for her phone number and Insta ID.
The victim told the police that when she refused, the accused started molesting her. After this, the second accused Khem Raj got up from the front seat and sat next to her. Khem Raj also molested and did obscene acts with her. The victim screamed loudly due to their actions and after getting down from the bus, she lodged a complaint against both the accused at the Sunni police station.
The accused Khem Raj is a driver in the HRTC bus and he was traveling as a passenger in the bus where the incident took place. The second accused Chaman Prakash works as a mechanic in the HRTC workshop. Khem Raj is a resident of Karsog in Mandi district and Chaman Prakash is a resident of Sunni in Shimla. Both the accused are married. Now the sword of suspension is hanging over them. According to the police, an FIR has been registered against both the accused under sections 75(2), 78(2), 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. Both the accused have been arrested and action is being taken.
