Shimla: The Himalayan Expedition successfully organized ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ competition, made voters aware
Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, April 16: ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ was successfully organized from Narkanda to Sarahan from 12th to 14th April, 2024 under the aegis of The Himalayan Expedition.Famous trail runners from India and abroad have participated in ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’. Most importantly, the successful conduct of ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ competition has also been included in the SWEEP activity for the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 to be held in Himachal Pradesh, Due to which the runners have done a commendable job in making the common people aware about voting.
Shimla District Administration Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma and Shimla District and Sessions Court Rampur Justice Birendra Thakur have flagged off ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ from Narkanda and sent it to Sarahan.
Shimla District Administration Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma said that the organization of ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ has become the most important because the Silk Route Ultra Trail includes adventure activities as well as tourism, old India-Tibet route and sweep activities has also been added. He said that on one hand, this activity is going to promote adventure sports and tourism of Himachal Pradesh across the world. Along with this, the old traditional Silk Route, known as the Old India-Tibet Route, will also be renovated.
Abhishek Verma said that apart from this, under the sweep activities, the runners have also motivated the common people to vote in 30 gram panchayats falling between the ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’.
Along with this, children have also participated enthusiastically in the ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’.
Shimla District and Sessions Court Rampur Judge Birendra Thakur also addressed all the participants present in the competition.

In ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’, 190 runners will have to cross four life-threatening stages in the competition –
In the fourth edition of ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’, the runners will have to risk their lives through dangerous forests along with entertaining activities for the spectators present. Under the dangerous categories, the runners will have to thrill the spectators by crossing the tracks of 100 km, 55 km, 33 km as well as 15 km.

The competition was flagged off from Narkanda under which the runners finished the 15 kilometer trail at Baghi, covered the 33 kilometer trail at Lafughati and also completed the 55 kilometer trail at Narain. The runners thrilled the spectators as they successfully finished the 100 kilometer trail in sarahan.
In the ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ competition, along with the runners of the Indian Armed Forces, 190 renowned runners from India and abroad participated, along with 80 school children also thrilled the spectators by showing their courage.
100 km race in the ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ competition being organized for the fourth consecutive year. There is a race which the runners have to complete within a day. This race was passed through the dangerous routes of India-Tibet road in which there was a risk of death, but along with the runners, 80 children also participated in the competition with their intelligence.
To successfully complete the race for all 180 runners, all the organizers of The Himalayan Expedition had thoroughly checked the route and the Silk Route Ultra Trail 2024 started from Narkanda, Shimla at 5.30 am on Saturday, 13th April, a day after The competition concluded with a prize distribution program on 14th April.
The main reason for the successful completion of ‘Silk Route Ultra Trail-2024’ for the fourth consecutive year by the organizers of The Himalayan Expedition is to promote adventure sports as well as to introduce the new generation to the symbol of strategic and friendship of India-Tibet Silk Route. Also, the main importance of the competition is to encourage all the common villagers to vote and choose the right candidates under the sweep activities. During the competition, Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) Kumarsain KK Sharma along with other dignitaries and senior citizens were present.
