Shimla Police sent more than one thousand drug smugglers to jail in 15 months

SP Sanjeev Gandhi

Shimla, August 31: In the last 15 months, 600 cases of drug smuggling have been registered in the capital Shimla. During this period, more than one thousand drug smugglers have been arrested. Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi gave this information in a meeting of the district level Narco Coordination Center on Saturday. This meeting was chaired by Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.

Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi said that most of the cases are related to chitta. Police has also attached the properties of the accused in various cases. Involvement of people from many important professions has been found in the business of chitta, which is a matter of great concern. But the general public refrains from giving information to the police. If the public provides information to the police, then drug dealers can be arrested at a rapid pace. The police always keeps the information of the informer confidential.

He said that chitta should not be taken lightly. Parents of children should increase surveillance on their children and also get them medically treated. Along with this, they should play their role against drug abuse with the help of police.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that within the next one month, a roadmap will be prepared about a detailed campaign to deal with drug abuse in the district. After this, every possible effort will be made to make the district drug free.

He said that the young generation in the district is falling prey to drug abuse. For this, extensive steps will be taken to increase public participation. He has appealed to the people of the Shimla district to inform the police and administration about the people involved in the drug business, Because day by day drug abuse is weakening our young generation. He said that such places will be selected in every block, where the drug business is flourishing.
