The ongoing fast of Himachal Pradesh SMC Teachers Association at CTO Chowk in Shimla demanding regularization continued actively for the eighth consecutive day on Saturday.

SMC teachers sitting at CTO Chowk on a continuous fast have been standing in the air shed for eight consecutive days despite the heavy rain and snowfall outside in the capital Shimla.

Himachal Pradesh SMC Teachers Association President Sunil and Himachal Pradesh SMC Teachers Association spokesperson Nirmal Thakur told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that SMC teachers have been waiting for their regularization for twelve consecutive years. There are some SMC teachers who are more than 50 years old. There are more than twenty percent SMC teachers who are going to retire in the coming few years.
