Shimla News: Inter-state drug racket busted, 4 smugglers from Punjab arrested with 169 grams of heroin

Shimla police has cracked down on an interstate drug racket and recovered 169 grams of heroin. Four drug smugglers have also been arrested by Shimla police in this case.

Shimla, July 5: Shimla police has cracked down on an interstate drug racket and recovered 169 grams of heroin. Four drug smugglers have also been arrested by Shimla police in this case. The cost of the drug is said to be five to six lakh rupees. All the four accused are residents of Punjab.

Shimla police had received secret information that the youth of Punjab are smuggling chitta and selling it to the youth of Sanjauli and surrounding areas.

Based on secret information, teams of Shimla police blocked various places. Before the accused from Punjab could supply chitta to the drug addicted youths, Shimla police caught the four accused.

SP Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, while giving information about the entire case, said that this banned substance has been seized from a gang of interstate drug smugglers. These people are residents of Punjab from whose possession 169 grams of heroin has been recovered.

Gandhi said that in the last 15 months, Shimla police has registered 600 cases and arrested about 1,000 smugglers.

He said that Shimla police is taking action against drugs with full alertness. The property of the culprits is being seized.

Shimla police has arrested 20 drug peddlers in a week. Shimla police has recovered 6.5 kg opium, 150 grams chitta and the same amount of hashish in a week.

Taking strict action, Shimla police is also seizing the vehicles and property of these accused. Out of these drug smugglers, 30% accused are from other states and 70 percent accused are from Himachal.
