Shimla, February 11: Construction work of Alumni Building of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is going to start soon. Construction of Alumni Building was announced during the convocation ceremony of HPU and now the entire process of construction of Alumni Building has been started.
BJP National President JP Nadda had earlier announced to give Rs 25 lakh for the Alumni Bhavan of HPU Shimla. With the declared amount of Rs 25 lakh and other financial support given by the alumni of HPU, Construction work of Alumni Bhawan of HPU Shimla has been started.
After Release of the declared amount of Rs 25 lakh for the Alumni Building of HPU Shimla by BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda,Construction work of the building has been started on a war footing. BJP National President JP Nadda has released an amount of Rs 25 lakh to Shimla District Administration Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
Before the construction of Alumni Bhawan of HPU Shimla, Students will be provided with all kinds of modern facilities including accommodation, food, library, theatre, etc. in the Alumni Bhawan.
Alumni Building is proposed to be constructed on the identified land of the University. Cost of construction of Alumni Bhawan of HPU Shimla is going to be borne by contribution received from the alumni of HPU.
After completion of the Rs 10 crore Alumni Building project of HPU Shimla, not only the alumni but also the university will be able to use it for organizing various activities. Overall responsibility for the maintenance of HPU Alumni Bhawan is going to be handed to HPU Management.
Site near the University’s Business School and behind the University Dispensary has been identified by the Shimla District Administration for the construction of the Alumni Building.
On the other hand, HPU Alumni Association is going to connect the alumni on social media through its Facebook account and appeal for contributions for the construction project of Alumni Building and all other activities of the Alumni Association. So far 500 life time members have been registered by the Students’ Union Association. 500 registered students include high ranking officials in the government and private sector.

HPU Alumni Association President Prof. PK Ahluwalia told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that it is proposed to spend an estimated Rs 10 crore on the construction of Alumni Bhavan in the university. Alumni Bhawan is going to be used for placement and training programs of the students studying in the University as well as employment related activities. Alumni Bhawan is also going to be used for the officers serving at high positions in private and government sectors.
