Congress registered a landslide victory in the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a major setback. Congress won 24 out of 34 wards in Shimla Municipal Corporation elections results declared on Thursday.
On the other hand, BJP could not even cross the double digit. BJP got victory in only 9 wards in Shimla Municipal Corporation elections. Whereas CPI(M) won in 1 ward.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has congratulated the party workers on the victory of Congress in Shimla Municipal Corporation. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that I would like to thank the people of Shimla Municipal Corporation.
This is the first election in the last 10 years, which has been fought on the party symbol. After 10 years, we have come after registering a historic victory in the Municipal Corporation.
Votes counted from 10 am-
The counting of votes for the 34 wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation started at 10 am on Thursday. A counting center was set up at the Government Senior Secondary School in Chhota Shimla.
The counting of votes was done in five phases. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi said that the counting of votes for wards one to seven was done in the first phase.
The results of Shimla Municipal Corporation elections have been declared today by the State Election Commission. For this, counting of votes was done at Government Senior Secondary School Chhota Shimla from 10 am. The results released by the State Election Commission are as follows:-
