Shimla MC Poll results 2023 : Latest Congress wins 19 while BJP wins 7 other wins 1 seats out of 34 seats
The results of the Municipal Corporation elections for Himachal Pradesh will be declared today. The counting of votes will begin at 10:00 am at the Government Seniors School, located in a small town. By afternoon it will be clear who will be in charge of the Municipal Corporation.
Employees will reach the counting center at 9:00 am. Polling has been held for 34 wards of the city and 102 are in the fray. Apart from this, the results of the by-elections held in Ward-2 of Palampur Municipal Corporation and Ward-6 of Nagar Panchayat Jawali and Ward-6 of Nagar Panchayat Rajgarh will also be declared on Thursday.
The district administration has made Chhota Shimla School a counting center for the municipal elections. There are eight tables set up here. It has seven tables for EVMs and one table for postal belt paper counting. Three officials will count at each table. Counting of votes will take place in four rounds on seven tables. Six wards will be counted in the fifth round. Five dozen counting personnel have been instructed to reach the center by 9 am. During the counting of votes, the candidates and their agents can remain inside till the counting of votes is done. There will be a ban on taking mobile phones inside the counting hall. The police administration has also tightened security around the strong room and the campus. District Election Officer Aditya Negi said that the preparations for counting of votes have been completed.
This is how the votes will be counted
The counting of votes for 34 wards of the Municipal Corporation will be completed in five rounds. Ward numbers 1 to 7 will be counted in the first round, 8 to 14 in the second round, 15 to 21 in the third round, 22 to 28 in the fourth round and 29 to 34 in the fifth and final round. Around 55, 662 votes will be counted in around 149 booths in these 34 wards.
Road from Brockhost to Kasumpti stopped at many stables
There will be a complete ban on the roads from Brockhost to Kasumpti Bazar on May 4 in view of the Municipal Corporation approach counting elections. District Magistrate Aditya Negi has issued an order in this regard. May 4 will be a holiday in Government Senior Secondary School, Kasumpti. The five-year term of the municipal corporation was to end in June 2022, but the election could not be held on time due to a court case challenging the delimitation of wards. The previous BJP government had increased the number of wards from 34 to 41. After coming to power, the Congress government abolished seven new wards in January.
