Shimla: Jewellery business brother-sister duped people of lakhs in the name of kitty, 19 HPU employees became victims

Shimla, July 20: In Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, a jeweller has cheated lakhs in the name of kitty. Most of the people cheated in the name of kitty are employees of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). The people who were cheated have lodged a complaint in the Boileauganj police station of Shimla city. The brother-sister who run a jewellery shop in Malyana town of Shimla city have been accused of this fraud.
Shimla police has registered a case against the accused on the basis of the complaint and started further action. According to the case, about 19 people including HPU employees were depositing kitty with the accused brother-sister for the last five years. But even after paying the installments of the kitty, they neither got their money back nor were they given any reward. Whereas the accused had promised to give reward after 20 installments.
About 19 people including the victims Sunil Kumar and Suresh Negi have alleged in a complaint to the Boileauganj police that the accused have a jewellery shop in Malyana town of Shimla. The complainants allege that they have deposited installments of different amounts since 2019, but neither have they received jewellery in exchange for the amount nor have they been given any reward. They allege that the accused jewellery businessman has cheated them of lakhs of rupees. It has also come to light that among the victims of fraud, some have been cheated of one lakh and some of one and a half lakh rupees.
On this matter, Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi said that on the basis of the complaint, the Boileauganj police has registered a case against the accused under fraud and started further action.
