Shimla: Shimla Gets State Award in Swachh Survekshan-2023, President Will honor on January 11
For Shimla’s excellent performance on all parameters in the cleanliness campaign, Municipal Corporation Shimla is going to be presented the State Award by President Smt. Draupadi Murmu on 11th January in the capital of India, New Delhi. Apart from Hill Queen City Shimla Mayor Surendra Chauhan, Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Secretary, Chief Director of Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Department, Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner will leave for New Delhi to receive the State Award.

Hill Queen Shimla city has won the State Award in the Swachh Survekshan Award 2023 organized by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Also, for the first time any city in the entire Himachal Pradesh is going to get the Swachh Survekshan Award.
For meeting all the standards of cleanliness system, Municipal Corporation Shimla will be given the State Award by the President of India, Capital New Delhi, Smt. Draupadi Murmu on Thursday, January 11. Apart from Municipal Corporation Shimla Mayor Surendra Chauhan, Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Secretary, Chief Director of Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Department, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shimla will leave for New Delhi to receive the State Award.

Last year, from the month of August to October of 2023, the cleanliness system of the capital Shimla was thoroughly checked by all the teams of the Central Sanitation Survey. The cleanliness system of Municipal Corporation Shimla was checked on many important parameters during the survey. From collecting garbage from houses, keeping wet and dry waste separately, disposal of wet and dry waste, the level of cleanliness in Shimla city, pollution control as well as all the important parameters were checked by the Central Sanitation Survey teams.
Shimla city applied for Three Star City and ODF Triple Plus –
Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Atri told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that in the cleanliness survey 2023, Shimla city has also applied for the release of Three Star City and ODF Triple Plus this time. If the Central Government grants approval of Three Star City and ODF Triple Plus to Shimla city, then Shimla can get the first position in the cleanliness survey ranking of the city. Last year, Shimla city had got 56th rank in the cleanliness survey.
Municipal Corporation Shimla Mayor Surendra Chauhan told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that the state award is going to be given to the capital Shimla only due to the hard work of all the employees of the Municipal Corporation on war footing day and night and the complete cooperation of the people of Shimla city.
