Shimla, March 01: Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance & Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday caught Dhami’s lawmen Harish Kumar Sharma red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 37 thousand. An amount of Rs. 13 thousand had been taken by the accused through Google Pay.

On the information of complainant Ramesh Chand, Vigilance had laid a trap to catch the lawmen red-handed. Complainant Ramesh Chand had purchased one bigha land in the name of two sons Amit Sharma and Sumit. Death was also registered in sub tehsil Dhami on 28 February 2024. But under the guise of releasing the documents related to the death of Ramesh Chand, a bribe of Rs 50 thousand was demanded by the lawmen.

The complainant’s son Amit Sharma had also sent an amount of Rs 8 and Rs 5 thousand to the accused through Google Pay. Even after this, Rs 37 thousand was being demanded by the alleged bribe taker.

Vigilance spokesperson has confirmed that the lawmen have been caught red-handed taking bribe. The lawmen have been arrested. Soon lawmen Will be produced before the court and remand will be taken.

However, suspension of the accused lawmen is almost certain. A separate departmental inquiry can be initiated against the accused. Apart from this, the movable and immovable property of the accused can also be searched by Vigilance. Vigilance has filed a case in Shimla police station under Section 7 of the PC Act 2018.
