NDRF and SDRF teams searching for bodies in Samej Khad

Shimla, August 11: Police is using DNA matching technique to identify missing people after Samej tragedy. Two bodies have been identified through this technique. Police has taken 37 DNA samples, on the basis of which this matching is being done.

One of the bodies identified is of 54-year-old Santosh Kumari, wife of Surat Ram, resident of Kanradh, Rampur, who was identified through the DNA of her son Rajesh Kumar. The second body is of 52-year-old Roop Singh, son of Sukhram, resident of Sarpara, Rampur, who was identified through DNA matching of his son Sahil.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that many bodies have been found in mutilated condition, identifying them has become a big challenge. For this reason, DNA samples of the relatives of the missing people have been taken and they are being matched with the DNA samples of the bodies. He said that our priority is to identify every body and for this scientific technology is being used.

Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that the bodies are being handed over to the relatives only after DNA matching, because identification of many bodies was not possible without DNA. He said that DNA sample profiling is being done under the scheme and other bodies will also be identified in the same way.

Electricity and water supply restored

Electricity and drinking water supply has been restored in the same area. Electricity and water supply was disrupted in the area since the tragedy. After ten days of hard work, the concerned departments restored the supply by laying new wires, poles and water pipes.
